Total degree hours: 60

The Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree is a 60-credit program for students who want to pursue a four-year degree in communications, social/behavioral sciences, or the arts and humanities. Students who wish to prepare for a particular four-year major should coordinate their course selection with their intended transfer institution.   For Associate of Arts degree plans, please consult the Degree and Certificate section.

Through the required core General Education courses in Written Communication, Oral Communication, Mathematics, Natural & Physical Sciences, History, Social & Behavior Sciences, and Arts & Humanities, students build a strong and well-balanced foundation for upper division coursework at their chosen four-year college.  Elective credits in the AA degree give students the flexibility to explore new subjects and prepare for their upper division major courses.

Transfer degrees at LCC also prepare you to succeed in your next steps.  We will build your transfer plan starting in your very first semester at LCC, continuing throughout each semester as you progress toward completion.  You will develop the academic and personal skills to prepare you for successful transfer to the four-year college or university that is the best fit for your academic and career goals.

We treat each student individually with one-on-one continuous advising support.  You’ll build your transfer plans with experienced faculty advisors with expertise in your target transfer area.
